Rat Bastard

So this is the latest piece I have done, been busy with other projects and work. I call this rat bastard. Sort of a mockery to the term "rat rod" . I'm not really keen on the term. No not a purist but hot rod derived from piecing a car together back in the day with what was available and affordable. Now it seems that people are piecing what they can find together from a scarp yard... putting an engine in it and painting "patina" and calling it a rat rod....  I could be wrong but some stuff that I have seen puts car culture to shame.

Ending one and starting on another 2.......

So I have finally finished the panorama from the last post, I think..... It has stirred up the thoughts for doing another 2 panoramas in Chevrolet and Chrysler. See what happens. Also added is the steelie I used for one side of the is image. There will be various colours available on these... Just got to get organised.

progress for a panorama

This is the beginnings of a panorama. been working on this for a while, trying to figure out what stuis and what doesn't. The other thing is with what else to fill the rest of the image.
Anyway this is progress for now. Also playing with the idea of colour.

Auto Worx

Been a while since I uploaded anything so here goes. Finding it easier to upload to Instagram (@spokesnpistons). Did a shot of a Peterbilt truck, first time trial.

After finishing the above shot , I thought it may work with a backdrop.... I ended up with what you see beneath. I also chopped the roof. Was going to channel the body but thought better of it. Maybe next time. Car show on tomorrow, so hopefully be able to upload some photography.....

Flat out

So I have been flat out for a while, between working and going away had no chance to do anything. I have just found the time to do these pieces. Two I shot as aerials from the plane I was on, couldn't sleep so found the opportunity to take a few snaps. Also never done aerial photography before. The other is of a Buick I shot earlier this year, decided to do a Sin City style image with this one.
Felt really small after taking these shots. I shot the aerials with a 10-22mm wide angle lens...

I like this one as it has that sombre feel. May print this up see how it comes out

Inbetween

This is some of the stuff I have been doing in between other projects... Would like to push this further but see what happens

The lead sled is a work in progress, currently building a backdrop for it. But works both ways

progress shot of the Studebaker, I shot this at a car show, was fairly stock so I did what I thought would suit it.

Been a while

It's been a while since I have posted anything..... Haven't been doing a lot of my own stuff been working on other projects. I have managed to do an image, done both in a panorama and a standard size. It has opened up the idea for another image. Got a couple of others that I have yet to finish, due to lack of ideas. This first image, I shot it at a car show, saw it once never seen it since.

The Buick below was shot at a car show also, finding it tedious to separate the car form the backdrop thought I would do this.... Was using photoshop initially but now using illustrator, hell of a difference, no pixelation in full res.. Self teaching Illustrator so forgive me.......

A little Aussie......

In the midst of shooting and post processing a wedding I shot on the weekend, I managed to do a Holden HQ GTS. It was more difficult than I initially anticipated, alot more curvature and gradients etc in comparison to some of the other stuff I have produced.

Also added is a 54 Chev, I shot this car about 3 years ago, named "Ruby.54", truly one of my favourites, subtle in manner but a head turner. It was featured in magazines here and in the states.

These 2 below are a couple I have been working on over the past few weeks... Here and there. Not sure what or where they are going but they are works in progress. All images are photos, that I have taken at car shows and for whatever reason have not got around to using them. I have lead sleds , more Aussie muscle, a gasser and a few other styles going to get my hands on.... As mentioned before, nothing is sacred.
